L’Oréal’s Françoise Bettencourt Meyers Becomes First $100 Billion Woman

Makes history by becoming the first woman to amass a $100 billion fortune.

L’Oréal heiress Françoise Bettencourt Meyers has become the first woman to amass a $100 billion fortune.
 
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, her wealth jumped up to $100.1 billion on December 28th after shares of L’Oréal SA rose to a record high.
 
Bloomberg ranks Bettencourt Meyers as the thirteenth richest person in the world, while Forbes ranks her as the fiftteenth richest person.
 
The 68-year-old French citizen is the vice chair of the board of L’Oréal, which her grandfather Eugène Paul Louis Schueller founded in 1909. She owns about 34.7% of L’Oréal’s stock.
 
Bettencourt Meyers is also president of her family’s philanthropic foundation, which champions France’s role in the advancement of the sciences and arts.
